Meal Prep 101

There is nothing like the feeling of a brand new year! While it may be cliche, the motivation of a fresh year truly is unmatched. I always use January to evaluate my health goals from last year, create new ones, and determine healthy practices I can implement to work towards those goals. Overall health and wellness is a goal I maintain throughout the years… specifically both eating and living well. I’ve found that meal prepping is an extremely helpful practice in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. At the beginning of each week (I typically on Sunday), I will make an outline of a meal plan for the week ahead, then prep the ingredients for each meal. Having our meals planned and prepped allows us to keep healthy eating at the top of our priority list, even on the busiest of weeks! I have put together a list of my favorite meal prep necessities, specifically items that make the habit of meal prepping much easier. I’ve also linked a few of my personal favorite healthy meal options… These meals are frequently on the weekly meal plans in our home! Happy healthy new year to you all!

Meal Planning Planner

Meal planning can be a rather daunting task. A great way to get into the habit of meal planning and prepping is documentation in a planner, log, or list. Organizing your week of meals ahead of time makes grocery shopping easier, and helps hold you accountable to following through with your planned meals! Erin Condren offers fabulous resources for meal planning… Some of my favorites are the Meal Planning Petite Planner, Custom Meal Planning Notepad, or the Recipe and Meal Planning Bundle

Slow Cooker

If you follow my Instagram stories, you know that my slow cooker is VERY frequently used in my kitchen. Slow cookers offer the ease of turning a dish on to cook in the morning, then complete and ready-to-serve by the evening. One of my favorite recipes to cook with my slow cooker is my 5 Step Crockpot Chicken… simply prep in the morning, and serve in the evening!

Food Storage Containers

Whether you’re meal prepping or simply storing ingredients, these glass food storage containers are an absolute must-have. In the past few years I’ve made the switch from plastic to glass containers and I absolutely love the convenience and aesthetic of glass containers. There are many different sets available, but I love the sets that offer containers of different shapes and sizes. Here are a few great options: PrepNaturals Glass Storage Containers (my personal favorite), Caraway Food Storage Set, Ello 10 Piece Meal Prep Food Storage Container, Rubbermaid Food Storage Containers

Prep Tool

This multipurpose prep tool is truly a gamechanger in the kitchen! This tool comes with five interchangeable blades that can meet all of your slicing, grating and chopping needs. Perfect for chopping and dicing vegetables, grating cheese, and so much more.

Always Pan

When meal prepping, functional and quality cookware is essential. I have found that the Always Pan checks both of those boxes… I absolutely LOVE this kitchen investment. This pan is designed to replace 8 traditional pieces of cookware: a fry pan, sauté pan, steamer, skillet, saucier, saucepan, nonstick pan, spatula, and spoon rest. This single pan can be used to braise, sear, steam, strain, saute, fry, boil, and more. There are many different Always Pan options that you can choose from HERE.

My Favorite Recipes

Below are some of my absolute favorite recipes to prepare throughout the week. Not only are they healthy, but also delicious and easy. I hope you enjoy!
