As the weather gets warmer and summer inches closer, this means increased time spent outdoors and the sun. I have always placed a high level of importance on sunscreen and protecting my skin from skin cancer, skin damage, and aging. Sunscreen application is a part of my daily skincare routine year round, but even more added protection during the summer months. Especially in Texas, the summer sun is INTENSE and definitely requires skin protection. In recent years I’ve discovered additional ways to protect my skin from the sun. Of course, sunscreen and other means such as sunglasses, and clothing items with UVP like hats, shirts, and coverups.
SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. This is how long it would take the sun to burn your skin with the sunscreen applied as directed, compared to how long it would take to burn if you aren’t using any sunscreen. For instance, if you’re using a product with an SPF of 30, it will take the sun 30 times longer to burn you than if you had no product. You can read more about the benefits of sunscreen and best practices HERE. I keep a variety of SPF on hand from SPF 30 to SPF 70. I stock sunscreens of different consistencies: spray, cream, and oil. I also make sure to have a special sunscreen for the face and lips.

I have tried SO MANY sunscreen products but these are a few of my favorites! I look first at ingredients, then product reviews, and ease of application. I have tried a variety of products that just do not work for me and my family due to sensitivities. The good news is, there are endless options. Thank goodness!
