As you have read in recent blog posts, I love starting the new year by evaluating my health and setting new goals. Over the years, I have found a few tried and true staples in my health and fitness journey. You all know how much I love my strength training and Pilates, eating clean, and of course – ProLon! I have completed 12…yes, 12 rounds of ProLon! ProLon was a suggestion from my internal medicine doctor in Austin, TX who worked to regulate my hormones and age management. I try to schedule ProLon quarterly but more often if needed. For me, ProLon works as the best reset and I love the emphasis on healthy aging. According to the ProLon website:
ProLon is a 5-day fasting-mimicking nutrition program. Designed and tested by 14 global universities to nourish you with plant-based food, while including the cellular, metabolic, and emotional benefits of prolonged fasting. Prolonged fasting (longer than 2-3 days) offers unique benefits, such as triggering autophagy for the clean-up of worn-out cells (hello, cellular rejuvenation)!
According to the ProLon website, “the first 2-3 days of fasting, the body burns fat to compensate this first stage of calorie deficit but thereafter fasting becomes a positive stress on each of your body’s cells which then goes through rejuvenation and autophagy, a key miracle of our human biology that is critical healthy aging and longevity”
Through ProLon, you will experience the weight management benefits of changing your relationship with food. This includes reduced cravings (sugar, for me), eating smaller portions, and feeling more in control of what you eat after finishing ProLon.
The first time I tried the plan I was, of course, nervous. Although I will try almost anything for my health, I was a bit skeptical, as the plan only lasted 5 days. Each time I complete a round of ProLon, I journal how I feel and my side effects. When on ProLon, I NEVER cheat… as I don’t want to ruin what I work so hard to achieve… results! ProLon suggests not working out during the plan but I know my body well and I continue my workouts at a scaled-back level, especially if my energy is lacking.
I typically begin on a Monday, ending on a Friday. I have found that the social element of the weekends can add more difficulty to staying on the plan. Weekdays work out much better for me! Follow along with my most recent ProLon Journal as I document my personal experience with the program below!

Day 1: I am excited about a new beginning and feeling better. I really am not hungry as the calories are fine today and the food is good. I love olives, so this addition makes me happy. The kale crackers take a bit to get used to (and I LOVE kale). I also am not a fan of honey… so the bars are a bit sweet for me. All is well and I know I will love the energy boost by the end of the plan!
Day 2: The food truly is good, I promise! The soups are well done and the snacks are a plus. The L-drink gives me energy and I infuse with the hibiscus tea provided. I will say, I am beginning to experience a bit of gas which is uncomfortable… but I’m moving forward. I am not accustomed to a plant-based diet so I think that is the culprit, let’s see!
Day 3: This is the most difficult day for me as the calories are reduced. I just need to keep myself busy to get my mind off the feelings of hunger. Thank goodness for the L-drink and I am slamming a ton of water! One major benefit that I have already noticed… I am sleeping better!
Day 4: My gas continues to be uncomfortable and I haven’t figured out why but, I’VE GOT THIS! I have signed up for the daily motivation emails (I HIGHLY recommend), which helps me to see the light at the end of the tunnel and are a welcome reminder of all the benefits to come that I might not be feeling today.
Day 5: Today is the last day and I’m so excited! I am ready for something in my meal plan that is not soup! Although the soups are really good, I’m ready for a bit of crunch. It is Friday and heading into the weekend, I am so ready to be done!
Day 6: I did it…transition day! I am so happy! My mind is clear, I truly have a better attitude, sleeping better, and MOST important… my pain and inflammation are down. I am also reminded of all the benefits of autophagy that I cannot see or feel. I “typically” lose between 5 to 7 pounds and will continue to lose a bit in the upcoming days and weeks. ProLon shares ways to transition back to your diet on their Transition Day Meal Guide, which can be downloaded HERE. I highly recommend following the transition guide to maintain your healthy reset.
I simply cannot recommend this program enough! The 5-Day Kit includes all meals, snacks, and beverages pre-packaged in five different boxes. Each box is labeled by day so you know exactly what to eat and when. I have found that the ProLon 5-Day program is designed to set you up for success! If you have ANY questions, please reach out in the comments. I would love to answer any questions or concerns you might have. You can learn more about this fabulous program on the ProLon website. If you are interested in trying, you can use code TIFFANYB10 at checkout for 10% off your order. Enjoy, and happy healthy new year!

Hi Mary! I am not entirely sure, but I highly recommend referencing the prolon website, https://prolonfast.com/products/buy-prolon?variant=39307402641454 for more details. I have loved my prolon experience and the customer service team has always been very willing to assist in any dietary modifications and restrictions.
I am in day 5, and I’ve had really rough day. Tomorrow I start the refeed. I’m going to have sauteed onions, yellow squash, and zucchini for breakfast. I’m going to have a tomato, cucumber, and lettuce sandwich for lunch. A friend of mine has invited me to his house for Thursday Night Football. He knows I am becoming vegetarian and is ordering one of the new Beyond Burger pizzas from Pizza Hut tomorrow night and a big salad. Do you think Pizza will ruin my refeed?
