Maintaining a balanced diet has always been important to me. Along with staying active, it helps me feel and perform my best! As we approach the busy fall season, it can be easy to slip out of healthy habits. That’s why I keep simple, nutritious snacks on hand to stay satisfied between meals. Introducing my Bento Box snacking system, inspired by Starbucks snack boxes!

Bento Boxes are versatile: perfect for meal prep, school lunches, and my favorite—protein-packed snacks! Using a variety of nutritious ingredients, I’ve created four diverse bento box snacks. Prepare them ahead of time for a guilt-free, delicious mid-day snack that’s perfect for on the go. Simply open the box and enjoy! Use the combinations below as a guide, adding and taking away whatever you please!

KEEP IN MIND…

  • Nutritional Balance is Key. In any snack or lunch, the goal is to create a healthy, balanced meal that hits 3 of the major food groups… fruits, veggies, protein, and a moderate amount of carbs. For exact measurements I use this food scale.
  • Prioritize Presentation. There’s nothing like an aesthetically pleasing snack or meal… get creative with colors and textures! I’ve separated my bento boxes by food group… nestling colorful fruits in one compartment, fresh veggies in another, and so on.
    • I’m using this 4 Compartment Container, but there are so many fabulous options available here! The containers I’ve linked are compact, BPA-free, and microwave-safe. 
  • Adapt for Kids. This is such a great template that you could adapt for children’s lunches and snacks for school, daycare, etc. Depending on how adventurous your child is, swap out any ingredient below with one of their favorite snacks.
