A Spooky Tablescape to Elevate Your Halloween Decor
Spooky season is upon us! I always decorate our home for the fall season, and in the October weeks leading up to Halloween, I love weaving in a bit of spooky flair! The days of childhood costumes and trick or treating are long gone in our home, but there are still traditions we hold on to. My personal favorite? Embracing the Halloween spirit through a fabulous dining room tablescape. I use our dining room as the “Halloween Hub” since it’s a frequently visited room in our home. However, you can absolutely use these techniques on a mantle, dresser, etc.
When creating my tablescape I use the colors of Halloween as my base. Think hues of black, orange, purple, vivid green, and white! I then add in an array of spooky collectibles—both old and new! While items vary each year, there are a few that have a standing seat at the table… Vietri stemware, assorted velvet pumpkins, and black candles housed in my crystal candle holders!

The Centerpiece
When it comes to the centerpiece, I try to incorporate Halloween components that are both festive and timeless. I often start with a black table runner adorned with a variety of items. Velvet pumpkins, sparkly skulls beaded pumpkins, ravens, crystal pieces, and candles of varying heights and textures (just to name a few)! The centerpiece trails from end to end of my dining table with tiny fairy lights gently tucked throughout to create a magical illumination.
Place Settings
I tend to gravitate towards a traditional place setting with a pop of color, ornamentation in the napkin ring, and a bold charger plate. I find that charger plates serve as a great place setting foundation and add a pop of color, dimension, texture, and elegance. Build the setting with a dinner plate, salad plate, napkin fold (with or without a napkin ring), flatware, and a place card. To add a bit of Halloween spirit, I tuck a black feather through the napkin ring!
