Yes, I said it…I LOVE doing laundry! Early Saturday mornings I awaken early, tiptoe into my kitchen, make coffee and begin my weekly date with laundry. I know, a bit unusual right? I so look forward to this weekly ritual as I find the routine to be calming for my OCD tendencies. Perhaps odd, but it’s my thing! I meticulously sort, each color and/or fabric delicacy having its very own bin or basket. My goal is to have all laundry under control, drying, folded or hung on a drying rack before I begin Saturday Pilates and certainly before noon. Now, I have a small family so this is doable. If I had a larger family with various members in a variety of sports, activities, and daily changings my love affair would possibly not be so relaxing. I have friends that have asked me to blog about the laundry products I use and how my laundry smells so good!
I really don’t use anything out of the ordinary. Items that are found at your local supermarket for normal laundry, specialty items for linens, or delicate fabrics. I am careful when using Tide Pods to not overfill the washing machine as the pods may get stuck, especially in bulky loads, like towels. I do not use fabric softeners on my delicate fabrics and particular brands of towels as this may affect absorbency. Always check labels in garments, towels, and linens.
I fold every piece of finished laundry with precision. I have a particular way to fold, especially towels, and if someone else folds, I re-fold. Life is short but, remember my OCD?
I hang the dried laundry on velvet hangers, all facing one direction in my closet. I love these huggable hangers as they allow items to not slip and look fabulous!

Oh my gosh! I can’t believe someone loves laundry as much as I do! I honestly thought I was the only person alive that would admit to it. LOL! In fact, our daughter Kaylee tells everyone that laundry is my hobby. I, too, find it calming. Weirdly enough, it makes me feel powerful – like it is something I can control when the rest of the world is chaotic and discombobulated. I am sensitive to some smells, but love the smell of fresh, clean laundry is perfect! Since I include it in my daily routine during the school year, I try to stay with that habit throughout the summer as well. We are empty nesters, so it is easily manageable also.
