California is home to two of my favorite travel destinations… Napa Valley and Big Sur! My hubby and I have made this trip numerous times, and after each trip we’re already ready to plan our next! Given our recent week-long trip, it felt like the perfect time to share my California travel diary. When it comes to Napa and Big Sur, the itinerary options are seriously endless, it just depends what kind of experience you’re wanting. I thought I would highlight the tried and true California itinerary we followed on our most recent trip. Where we stayed, where we dined, and of course what to wear! Follow along on our journey through the enchanting landscapes of Napa Valley and the rugged beauty of Big Sur!

NAPA VALLEY
If you know our family, you know our love language is food and wine! Napa is home to countless lush vineyards, world-class wineries, and culinary delights. I could talk for hours about the array of experiences in Napa, but for the sake of time I thought I would highlight a few of my must-trys!
Where We Stayed
Auberge du Soleil is by far our favorite resort in Napa. The property consists of breathtaking views, impeccable facilities, and a Michelin-starred restaurant. We always have a relaxing and memorable experience at Auberge du Soleil.

What We Did
As mentioned above, Napa is full of incredible wineries and tasting salons. When it comes to wine tastings I personally opt for one (maybe two) experiences a day. I find it allows me to appreciate the wine and atmosphere without being rushed! Two tasting salons we experienced and loved were JCB and Jessup Cellars!
JCB: The JCB Collection tasting salon in Yountville is truly a luxurious wine experience like none other. The flight list is extensive, wines are exquisite, and the salon is breathtaking! We will definitely repeat this tasting.

Jessup Cellars: Jessup is almost always on my list of must-visit wineries when in Napa. We visited their boutique tasting room and art gallery for the Classic Wine Experience, which is a guided wine tasting with a pairing plate. It is truly such an educational experience with phenomenal wines.

Where We Dined
The French Laundry is one of the most iconic dining experiences in the USA. Using fresh produce and innovative cooking methods, your meal consists of 13 exquisite courses that are as unique as they are delicious. I highly recommend adding this stop to your bucket list! BIG SUR
After 4 fabulous days in Napa Valley, we ventured down the iconic Highway 1 and witnessed the dramatic coastal cliffs and serene forests of Big Sur.
Where We Stayed
If you ask me, Post Ranch Inn is truly one of the most relaxing places on the planet. There is a calm you experience when driving into the property that remains with you throughout your stay. We stayed in the Cooper house overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and could have stayed forever. Unique treehouses and homes surrounded by breathtaking views, the Post Ranch Inn is a truly magnificent experience.

Where We Dined
La Bicyclette: On our way to Big Sur, we stopped at La Bicyclette for lunch. This restaurant came highly recommended, and after experiencing the European Country Cuisine first hand I completely understand why. The Parisian Gnocchi was out of this world! (psst… take a post-meal stroll to Girl Boy Girl for a luxurious boutique shopping experience)

What We Did
With an incredible restaurant and a wide array of daily activities, we never really feel the urge to leave the property when staying at Post Ranch Inn.
Edible Garden Tour: The edible garden tour is one of many daily activities available for guests. This was such a unique way to spend time outside, as well as learn about and taste the different herbs available in the chef’s garden.

Spa & Pool: Following a treatment at the spa, we soaked up the sights and sounds of Big Sur, overlooking the Pacific while soaking in the heated infinity pool.
