A Clean, Simple, and Delicious Summer Recipe

Summer is just a few weeks away, which means it’s time to fire up the grill and gear up for grilling season! When it comes to summer grilling, there are a handful of recipes I keep on frequent rotation, including my tried and true turkey burger recipe. Trust me when I say these aren’t your basic turkey burgers. The flavor packed patties are made with clean, everyday ingredients, grilled to perfection, and ready in less than five steps. While I’ll always love a classic cheeseburger, this easy turkey burger recipe is a household favorite that friends and family crave all spring and summer long.
The lean ground turkey absorbs a flavorful blend of seasonings, grated zucchini, and carrot, which is the secret to an incredibly moist and juicy patty! Paired with your favorite burger toppings, these turkey burgers are fresh, flavorful, and perfect for everything from weekend cookouts to quick weeknight dinners. Bonus: guests always ask for the recipe! You can even cook them indoors using a grill pan, no outdoor grill required. Trust me when I say you’ll be making these on repeat all summer long. Don’t forget to serve them with my 6 Bean Baked Beans for the ultimate summer plate. Now onto the important question… What toppings go on your turkey burger??

The Best Turkey Burgers
Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground turkey
- 1 whole egg beaten
- ½ cup zucchini grated
- ½ cup carrot grated
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ cup rolled oats
- ½ tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp cumin
- ¾ tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp coarse ground black pepper
- 4 brioche hamburger buns split and toasted
Toppings of your choice: lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup
Instructions
- Preheat the grill to 400 degrees.
- In a large bowl, combine turkey, egg, zucchini, carrot, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, oats, chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper. Gently mix ingredients together and form into 4 patties.
- Place patties on the grill. Cook approximately 5 minutes per side or until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees; turning only once. Transfer to buns and top with your favorite toppings.
Notes
- As an alternative cooking method, cook stovetop with a grill pan (don’t forget to add a spray of olive oil) or in the broiler of your oven.
- For sanitation purposes, I use these disposable food safe cooking gloves when combining the ingredients.
- This grilling tong and turner set is ideal for grilling. It’s much longer than traditional products which allows you to stay a safe distance from the grill.
- To bind the ingredients together I add rolled oats. You can also use bread crumbs (or gluten-free bread crumbs).
- I love brioche buns, but use whichever hamburger buns you prefer. For a gluten-free alternative, forgo the buns and use Romaine lettuce or Boston lettuce for the perfect wrap.
- Get creative with your toppings. barbecue sauce, Thousand Island dressing, cheese, mayo, honey mustard, sprouts, caramelized onions and peppers, bacon… the list is endless. Yum!!
