Southwest Burger Wrap

I love a good burger. But, when adding fresh chilies, especially hatch chilies, the flavor is absolutely out of this world! A bit of spice with a flavor that is slightly sweet, crisp and smoky.  When in season, I always use hatch chilies in recipes. The season is typically August through the end of September but I am hoping for mid July (fingers crossed).  As the season solidifies this year, I will share more recipes with you!

This recipe I developed for Beef Loving Texans is a favorite as it is a combination of all of my very favorite ingredients; cumin, chili powder, and garlic powder mixed in with the ground beef. I use 85% lean for burgers to bind and enhance with the flavor of additional fat. Top this burger with more of my favorites; fresh avocado, pico de gallo, salsa and cool the spice with a dollop of sour cream or plain Greek yogurt. YUM!!! If I am watching my carbs, which I typically do…I use a couple of Bibb lettuce leaves instead of a bun.
