Happy first official day of fall! As the weather transitions from warm to cool, it’s time for our closets to do the same thing. At the beginning of a new season, I dedicate a full day to what I call a closet transition (read more about this here). Seasonal closet transitions are a great way to create daily ease in your life, as well as create more space to add trending pieces. Now that the season has begun, we can officially take a look at the fashion trends we are certain to see this fall. Neiman Marcus has released “The Fall List”, which is the trend report I swear by! Keep reading for the fall trends and how I plan on implementing them in my wardrobe.  

Leather Jackets

Leather jackets are SO in this season! Leather of different colors, cuts, and styles… sign me up. I absolutely love leather jackets… select a style that is classic, edgy, or a bit of both. Both can be styled in many beautiful ways! 

White Tanks

This simple, basic wardrobe piece is a fall staple! Dress it up, or dress it down. The white tank can be layered to best show off the focal point of your outfit.  

Sweater Dressing

Sweaters… a fall staple we often see every year. Expanding on the classic sweater trend, this season we will see knit clothing worn from head to toe. Comfortable and so incredibly chic! 

Over-the-Knee Boots

The trend I’m probably the most excited about… over-the-knee boots! This is the perfect way to add length to your legs. Pair with a mini skirt or dress for the elongated leg look, or even pair with a maxi skirt or dress for one consecutive look! Adding an over-the-knee boot is a great way to elevate any outfit. Pair this style with a mini dress, SO very chic. 

Tailoring

The tailored look is BACK and carried over from spring.! I absolutely love a tailored suit moment… and this season designers are offering a variety of styles and modernized takes on the classic tailored suit. I am certainly in love with this trend which is such an effortless, and polished look!

Patent

Give me ALL the patent accessories this season. Adding a patent bag, shoe, belt or boot is a great way to add dimension to any outfit. This trend is extremely eye-catching and so elegant!

Relaxed Denim 

Denim is always trending. However, this season designers are taking a more loose and relaxed approach to the fabric. If this look feels familiar, it’s probably because its inspiration comes from the baggy styles that dominated the 1990’s and early 2000’s. Comfort is key! 

Platforms

While my feet and back issues may not allow me to hop on this trend, it is truly SO very fabulous. The exaggerated platform has been seen all over social media, and will continue to be seen throughout the fall season! I absolutely LOVE the eye-catching drama of this shoe.
