“Maybe our girlfriends are our soulmates and guys are just people to have fun with.”
-Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City.
For those who don’t know, Galentine’s Day is observed the day before Valentine’s Day, on February 13th, whereas instead of celebrating with your partner, you celebrate with your best girlfriends. There is just one rule, no significant others are invited. I’ve round up a few of my favorite ideas and activities, to make this holiday extra special this year. Enjoy and Happy Galentine’s Day!
Mimosa bar + brunch
Lucky for you, Galentine’s Day falls on a Saturday this year! Invite your best gals over and celebrate with a colorful mimosa bar and brunch! Support a local restaurant and order in or cook up a storm, the options are endless! I have a blog post on How to Build a Fabulous Mimosa Bar. Check it out!
Painting with a Twist
Plan a fun-filled night out of the ordinary with Painting with a Twist. With locations all over the nation, there is sure to be one close to you. Create colorful memories as you sip wine, paint, and cheers to your girl gang.
At-Home Spa + Movie Night
Bring the spa into your home with face masks, aromatherapy, and manicures/pedicures for all! Throw on your favorite movie while you sit back, relax, and pamper yourselves!
Virtual or In-Person Cooking Class
Sur la Table offers a great assortment of virtual cooking classes that won’t break the bank! If you’re looking for an in-person experience and are local to Texas, check out Central Market for a variety of great in-store events. As a chef, one of my favorite places to spend time with friends is…you guessed it, the kitchen! Dive into a new culinary experience with your best girls by your side. I promise you, it will be a night none of you will forget!
Get Outdoors
Depending on where you live and what the weather is like, get outdoors! Whether you hike, walk, bike, ski, kayak, or something else…do something active! It’s good for the body, mind, and soul and is the perfect time to bond with your girls.
Game Night
We are never too old for games, right? Gather your favorite board games, stock the bar, and get ready for a good old fashioned game night. Stick to the classics or try something new, whatever you decide…it definitely won’t be boring!
Virtual or In-Person Wine Tasting
If you’re local in DFW, check out Thirty Eight and Vine and Ellerbe Fine Foods for virtual or in-person wine tastings! If you’re elsewhere, just google it! There are tons of options, nationwide, and this makes for the absolute perfect girls night. Expand your palate and discover new wines with your best girlfriends, what could be better?!
bakeoff or baking exchange
You know what never gets old? Baking! Whether you all cook together or come with your goodies already prepared, there is just something comforting about sharing carbs with your gals. Cookies, muffins, cupcakes, bread…the options are endless. Set a theme or let it be a free for all, whatever you decide your bellies and hearts will both be full!
