Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ripe tomatoes, cut into 1/4 inch slices
  • 8 oz fresh mozarella, packed in water cut into ¼ inch slices
  • 1 bunch fresh basil leaves
  • Balsamic reduction
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Arrange tomatoes on a large serving platter. Layer basil and mozzarella. Drizzle with balsamic glaze. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

TIFFY’S TIPS:
  • Use a serrated knife to slice tomatoes.
  • For convenience, use pre-sliced, fresh mozzarella, packed in water.
  • This is my preferred balsamic reduction, but you can use any store bought option.
  • To select fresh tomatoes, look for fruit that smells sweet and fragrant near the stem, feels heavy for its size, and has smooth, shiny skin without deep cracks or bruises.
  • To select fresh basil, look for vibrant green leaves, firm stems, and a sweet, pungent aroma. Avoid dark spots, yellowing, or wilting.
