There is nothing worse than looking in your closet and feeling like you have nothing to wear (I’ve been there countless times). To avoid moments like these, I’ve found it’s helpful to keep a number of staple pieces on deck. When I think of a closet staple, I think of items that are versatile and can be worn for a variety of occasions. Not to mention, these pieces should be comfortable and make you feel your very best… two things that heavily impact the amount of times you will think to wear something. When adding timeless staple pieces to your wardrobe, I think of this as an investment in myself. Quality items (if well cared for) can last years, which makes it worthwhile to splurge. I consider so many items staples including athletic wear, loungewear, pajamas, shoes, and foundations which are all essentials to me. Throughout the years I’ve curated a list that are truly staples in my closet, which I’m sharing with you below! I hope you love my list of essentials as much as I do, and feel inspired to find your own wardrobe staples!
Ruched Blazer | Earrings | Silk Tank | Crossbody Bag | Duster Cardigan Sweater | Pasty Covers | Denim Shorts | Wide-Leg Pants | Quilted Leather Mules | Jeans | White Tee | Sneakers | Jumpsuit | Slides | Thong | Bralette
Parker Vintage Denim Cutoffs
I’m extremely particular about denim shorts. At my age especially, I feel it’s important to find a pair that are comfortable and a length you love. I absolutely swear by the Agolde Parker Vintage Denim Cutoffs. These have been my staple denim shorts for years… so comfortable and offer the perfect amount of coverage. Also available in white HERE.
Harmon Drapey Slip Tank
This tank top is truly one of my favorite pieces in my closet (over the years I’ve purchased at least 6 different colors). The versatility of this top is what makes it such a closet staple. It can be worn casually with jean shorts and sneakers or dressed up with a fabulous pantsuit. Between my daughter and I, it’s safe to say this top is worn at least once a week in our family.
Amia Twill Jumpsuit
A common theme with closet staples is versatility… something that can be styled in many different ways and styled for a variety of occasions. This Cinq à Sept Jumpsuit is exactly that. I’ve paired this jumpsuit with a duster and heels for work meetings or dinner with friends, and wear with sneakers for a day of running errands. Though it’s a bit of a splurge, you will get so much wear out of this jumpsuit, and the quality is made to last for years.
Blazers
If you know me, you know how much I love a blazer moment. A blazer is such an easy and chic way to elevate any outfit, and can be styled so many ways (see how I styled one blazer three ways HERE). The perfect item for both work and play… shop my favorites below.
~SPLURGE: Since I get so much wear out of my blazers, they are a worthwhile investment for me. Some of my favorites: Cinq à Sept Crepe Ruched Blazer & Alice and Olivia Blazers.
~ SAVE: I love blazers that are under $100 with a good level of quality… My favorites are: Express Columnist Open Front Blazer & Gibsonlook Double Breasted Blazer (get an extra 10% OFF Gibsonlook using code TIFFANY10).
My Holy Grail Undergarments
Bralette | Nipple Covers | Hanky Panky Thong | Commando Thong Set
Undergarments are certainly included in my closet staples and are the foundations of any outfit. I’m personally less likely to feel confident in an outfit if I’m not comfortable in the basics underneath. These are my tried and true undergarments… all so comfortable and great for a variety of styles.
~ SPANX Bra-llelujah Lightly Lined Bralette:My FAVORITE bralette… so comfortable for daily wear.
~ Nippies Nipple Covers:Perfect for backless dresses or tank tops (just say no to visible bra straps!).
~ Hanky Panky Supima® Cotton Original Rise Thong: This has been my everyday panty for as long as I can remember… The fabric is soft and breathable, and the style such a comfortable fit.
~ Commando Stretch Thongs: This seamless fabric panty sits flat against your skin. Perfect for when you need undetectable underwear (tight dresses, leggings, etc.).
My Go-To Shoes
Pearl Slides | Quilted Leather Mules | White Sneakers | Nike Free Run
Another thing I’m extremely picky about… my shoes! I crave shoes that are stylish AND comfortable. I’ve found spending money on uncomfortable shoes is ultimately a waste, as I will rarely choose to wear a shoe that is uncomfortable. Hence, I am more likely to splurge on a shoe that is both comfortable and versatile. These are the shoes I find myself wearing the most.
~ Jimmy Choo Faux Pearl-Embellished Slides, Ballet Pink: Truly the most comfortable shoe I own… the velcro strap is a game changer. Also available in black here.
~ Prada Quilted Leather Mules: This is easily one of my most worn pair of shoes… such a chic look that can be styled so many different ways, SO worth the splurge! Also available in gold here.
~ Dolce & Gabbana Leather/Mesh Sneakers: My FAVORITE sneaker!! As comfortable as they are chic, and such a compliment magnet. Such a versatile sneaker.
~ Nike Free Run 5.0: One of my go-to sneakers for strength training and running errands!
